Handled
Privacy Policy
Last updated October 13, 2026
Handled Jobs ("Handled," "we," "us"), a sole proprietorship owned by Kale Moore, runs handledjobs.com and the Handled mobile app, a marketplace where people post small jobs and other people claim and complete them. This policy explains what we collect, why, who can see it, and how to delete it.
The short version: we collect what it takes to match you with a job and keep people safe. We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for advertising.
Information you give us
- Account: your name, email address, phone number and city, plus, if you choose to add them, your date of birth and a profile photo. A date of birth is only needed if you are 13 to 17, so a parent can approve you for jobs. We use your phone number only to reach you about your account or a job. It is never shown to other users.
- Identity verification: if you want to claim jobs, photos of your face and of the front and back of a photo ID (a state ID, driver’s license, passport, or for teens a school ID). We note the date of birth on the ID so the rules for teens apply.
- Jobs: what you post or claim, the job description, price, date and time, the street address of the job, and any photos or videos you attach.
- Voice messages: recordings you choose to send in a chat. They're stored privately and can only be played by the people in that chat (and, for a chat with an under-16 user, that user's parent or guardian). The app uses your microphone only while you're recording one.
- Messages and ratings: messages you send (on a job or directly to another user), star ratings, written reviews, cancellation reasons, and reports you file.
- Parent or guardian details, if you are under 18: your parent's name and phone number. We use the number only to call your parent to confirm their approval, and to reach them about your account.
- Support: anything you send us by email.
- Assist questions: what you type to Assist, the helper on the Help page.
Information collected automatically
- Location: your city, and, if you give permission, your phone's location. The app uses it to show how far you are from jobs. Job locations are stored rounded to about half a mile.
- Device and usage data: IP address, browser or device type, and basic logs of errors and requests, kept for security and troubleshooting.
- When you last opened Handled: the date and time, so a weekly check-in only goes out when you haven't been on in a while.
- Push notification token: if you turn on alerts in the iPhone app, Apple gives your phone a token so we can send it alerts. If you turn on alerts on the website, your browser gives us a similar address for that browser. We store it with your account and use it only to send you Handled alerts. It is removed when you sign out or block alerts.
- Local storage: a sign-in token and saved drafts stored on your own device. We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies.
How we use it
- To create your account and show you jobs near you.
- To email you job alerts about new jobs within 15 miles. These are on by default, and you can turn them off anytime.
- To send you alerts about your jobs, such as claims, approvals, new messages, cancellations and payments. In the iPhone app with notifications on, or on the website with alerts turned on, you get phone alerts, plus emails for bookings, cancellations and money. With alerts off, you get emails instead.
- To send phone alerts in the iPhone app or on the website, if you allow notifications: new messages, offers, requests, approvals, check-ins, finished jobs, payments and cancellations, and new jobs near you if job alerts are on. We never send ads as phone alerts.
- To send a weekly check-in: at most once a week, only when you haven't opened Handled in 5 days or more and there's something new (for example, "2 things are waiting on you" or "3 new jobs near you"). It's a phone alert in the app, or an email if you don't get phone alerts. Turn them off anytime in the app under Messages, then Alerts, or with the link in the email.
- To call you about your account or a job, if we need to. Handled does not send text messages (SMS).
- To process payments and pay helpers.
- To verify identity, enforce our rules, investigate reports, and keep under-16 users on jobs that are allowed for them.
- To fix problems and improve the app.
We do not sell your personal information, share it with data brokers, or use it to target advertising.
Who can see what
- Anyone, signed in or not, can look at the job board. For a job you post, they see the job type, title, price, city, day and time, photos, and your first name and last initial, profile photo, rating and jobs done. The description stays hidden until they sign in.
- Other signed-in users see your name (as you entered it), profile photo, city, rating, reviews, jobs done, show-up record and the month you joined, and "Under 16" if you're under 16. Your age isn't shown. If you're a teen, they also see a "Parent-approved" badge with your parent's first name.
- Never shown to other users: your date of birth, email, phone number and exact address.
- Everyone talks through the in-app chat. Other users never get your phone number, so matched people don't call or text each other.
- The job's street address is shown only to the helper the poster has approved, and only after approval.
- Messages are filtered automatically for slurs and explicit words. In chats with under-16 users, phone numbers, emails and social handles are blocked. If you tap "Delete for everyone," the message is hidden from the chat, but Handled keeps a private copy for safety reviews (and an under-16 user's parent or guardian can still see it).
- Your ID photos (your selfie and photo ID) are never shown to other users. Only Handled sees them, and we delete them once the check is done.
- Reports are private. The person you report is not told who filed it.
Companies that help us run Handled
We share only what each one needs to do its job:
- Supabase stores our database and uploaded photos, and handles sign-in.
- Netlify hosts the website and app.
- Stripe processes payments and payouts. Card numbers go directly to Stripe and are never stored by Handled. If you pay from your bank, you connect it on Stripe's secure page. Stripe checks the account, and Handled never sees your bank login or full account number. If you choose "Remember my bank," Stripe keeps the bank so you can pay in one tap next time, and Handled keeps only the bank's name and last 4 digits to show you. You can remove it anytime under You, then Getting paid.
- Resend sends our emails.
- Photon by komoot suggests matching addresses while you type a job's street address. Only what you've typed in that box goes to it, plus the middle of your town so nearby matches come first. Not your name, email or phone. Address data © OpenStreetMap contributors.
- Anthropic provides Claude, the AI behind Assist on the Help page, only after you agree to turn on AI answers there. When you do, what you type to Assist, plus your city and account status (for example, whether your ID is verified), is sent to Anthropic to write the reply. We don't attach your name, email, phone number or street address. Under its commercial terms, Anthropic does not use this to train its AI models. You can turn AI answers off anytime in Assist.
- Apple delivers phone alerts to the iPhone app through the Apple Push Notification service. Apple receives the alert text and your phone's token, nothing else. On the website, your browser's company (for example Google for Chrome, Apple for Safari, Mozilla for Firefox) delivers the alerts; the alert text is encrypted so only your browser can read it.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or where we believe it is necessary to prevent harm to someone.
Users under 18
Handled is not for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you are 13 to 17, you may use Handled only with a parent or guardian's approval. You give us your parent's name and phone number. Handled texts them at that number to make sure it's really them and that it's okay (or they can text or call us at (385) 275-6240). Your account unlocks only after they say yes. We use their phone number only for this and to reach them about your account. Their first name appears on your profile with a "Parent-approved" badge so posters know you are approved. Under-16 users can only take jobs the person posting has marked as open to under-16s, and an adult must be present at the home. No one under 18 can take jobs caring for children. A parent or guardian of an under-16 user gets a private, read-only link to all of their child's chats on Handled, including voice messages and messages that were deleted. If you message someone under 16, their parent or guardian can read that conversation. A parent or guardian may contact us at any time to review or delete their child's information.
Keeping information safe
Information is sent over encrypted connections and stored with access controls, so users can only reach their own data and the job details they are part of. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and will notify you if a breach affects you.
How long we keep it
We keep your account information while your account is open. Job records and messages (including private copies of deleted messages) are kept afterward where we need them for dispute or safety reasons. Payment records are kept as required for taxes. ID photos are deleted once the check is done.
Your choices and rights
- Edit your details any time on the You tab.
- Turn off job alerts on the Jobs tab, or use the unsubscribe option in any alert email.
- Turn off weekly check-ins under Alerts in the app, or with the link in the check-in email.
- Turn off phone alerts any time in your iPhone's Settings, under Notifications, then Handled. On the website, block notifications for handledjobs.com in your browser's settings.
- Delete your account by tapping Delete my account at the bottom of the You tab. We finish closing it within 24 hours and email you when it's done. This removes your profile and your personal details. Payment records are kept as required for taxes, and other records are kept as described above.
- Ask for a copy of your information, or ask us to correct or delete it, by emailing us. Depending on where you live, you may have rights under laws such as the GDPR or the CCPA, including the right not to be discriminated against for exercising them. We do not sell or share personal information as those laws define it.
Where information is stored
Handled is based in Utah, United States, and information is processed there. If you use Handled from another country, you understand your information is transferred to the United States.
Changes to this policy
If we make meaningful changes we will update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, tell you in the app.
